#1 wiring

Post by detiid » Fri May 18, 2018 8:56 am

I have a ser2 that I am fitting a new harness to and have a problem.
on the dash wiring I have a small rubber plug which is connected to 2 white and 1 green wire, it appears to be positioned on the right hand side of the dash. does anyone know what this connects to I can find no mention of it on the wiring diagram. Could it be just to connect these wires together. if you can help I can then connect the last wires on the dash!

That sounds like the feed to the tachometer. The two white wires carry the current to the ignition coil...the tachometer is current driven...and the green is the ignition feed to the tachometer electrics..

And.... without its being plugged into the back of the tachometer, ( and the white wire connected to the coil /distributor circuit at one end and the ignition wiring at the other )you will find that you have no ignition !!

I have one more question, the 2 speed wiper motor switch has 8 terminals but only 4 wires, I assume that the motor is earth switched, does any one know what leads on which terminals?
I have 3 wiring diagrams all are different!

The diagram in the S2 Service manual is correct (assuming you have original parts).

This may help you.
