I think the failures were from the earlier production runs (I seem to recall Pete C had one seize with expensive results) but they now seem to got their act together.

Yes, less than five miles on my first D replica before it seized and spun round. Prior to that, it had definitely helped the Weber idle smooth out.

Clearly a batch-related mechanical problem, which they pro-actively contacted me about. Unfortunately, 'pro-active' and 'timely' are not the same thing and I got the recall on the Monday following its seizure on the Saturday. I used the replacement without further trouble.
