Post by frogeater » Fri Jul 06, 2018 1:47 pm

Hi all.
I' m lost, trying to reput my alternator, water pump and power steering belts.
Is someone would have à picture or indication about that?
I'm stupid as I changed the water pump after 4 miles :wow: and lost the pictures.
Thank you by advance.

The water pump should be driven off the crank pulley groove nearest the engine block. The belt is tensioned by the spring loaded jockey wheel just in front of the distributor. The power steering is driven from the second groove on the crank pulley. The belt doesn’t go around anything else besides the crank pulley and PAS pump. It’s tensioned by moving the PAS pump on its mounting The alternator is driven off the forward pulley on the water pump. It’s tensioned by moving the alternator on its mounts.

Hello .
After 1 and half an hour on the water cranck and pulley belt, would you have a tip to put it?
Difficult for an epileptic to make these little finitions...

Are you sure the belts are the correct lengths? When I set mine up properly, I went to the motor factors and bought a selection of belts to see what fitted best, as I wasn’t sure exactly what I needed. The water pump belt should be easy to fit. Fit it to the water pump first as it’s too short to fit over the alternator drive pulley if you try and do it the other way around. It should be just long enough to slip over the crank pulley. If you’re getting stuck here, your belt is too short. You should be able to press the jockey wheel in with your fingers as you fit the belt into the correct groove on the front pulley.

Hi Tom.
After 1 hour of effort, I think you are right: this is not the right belt.
I will follow you and will go to buy, next friday 2 bolts a little longer!
Kind regards.
