My mechanic who has worked on XKE's for forty ears says if it ain't broke don't fix it. He says jaguar engineers did a good job designing the engines in 1968 and if the car runs good stick with what got you in the ball game. Stay original wherever possible. I have done so with the oil filter and intend to follow his sage advice. True, it can be a hassle but if you are patient, like everything else on the XKE it can easily be done.
