I have one rear brake light and both rear main lights out. Thought I would check bulbs first as (theoretically) the easiest explaination. I took the four screws out that go through the plastic lens and it doesn’t come off, also took out the two screws underneath that go through the trim into the light assembly and still no movement at all.
I’m thinking it’s just locked in there with age and will need prying out, but before I stick a screwdriver in there and start prying am I missing something?

Andrew : there is usually a rubber gasket between plastic lens and main body of the fitting which becomes very
"sticky" with age. A thin but broad implement is probably the best thing to use - perhaps an old bank card or similar - which can be run along the join to try and free things up whilst pulling outwards on the lens

No such thing as a dumb question...worth squirting a little WD40 around the edge of the lens....leave for a bit. May help loosen the rubber seal.....you might need a new one. When you do fit the new bulbs in puff a little WD40 in the holder first....
