Hello,
I need your advice about this item on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JAGUAR-E-TYPE-4-2 ... 3359af1d57
My etype is an american one with two strombergs: they were renew recently but i'm sure that in some time or years, I will pass to three su's (I read some comments on this forum about the weber conversion)
Do you think it would be a good idea to take those cheap one and renew them , or would you wait for original e type one?
Thank you for your reply.

The carburettors would be OK, but I believe that the manifold for the 420G / Mk 10 Jaguar is different to the E type. Something to do having to clear the engine frame on the E Type, hence the manifold is angled up a little.
Worth buying for the carbs if cheap enough though.

Thank you Mark,
If, it's not the same manifold, I won't take it and will wait: I'm not in a hurry for that.

Here is the kit made by the SU Carb Co......it's expensive at over ?2500. They do the manifold on it's own for ?550, so it may be worth getting the carburettors from that 420 if they go for a couple of hundred ???s.
They would have to be rebuilt of course.

Not only the manifold is the problem, but also this has the starting carburetter i.e. there is no manual choke . Mark 10 sets are 2 a penny for the very simple reason that they will not fit under an E bonnet - the manifold actually is lower on the E than on the mark 10 and is angled downwards

Oopps, you absolutely right Christopher....I'll blame it on a hefty Thursday night!
For future reference, and so you know what to look for when examining systems for your S2, this is the head showing the manifold angle from my S1...it does look quite different to the Mk10 / 420G.

Thank you for all of that!
I notice also a difference beetween the 3,8 manifold and 4,2 manifold on the Phillip Porter book.
It would have been a great mistake to take it (Not the first one for me :) )
So, I will wait
