#1 S2 2+2 Washer Bottle Bracket

Post by Williamss » Fri Apr 19, 2019 10:52 am

Hi all.

I have searched but I can't see that this topic has been listed before.

I went to replace the rusty washer bottle bracket on my 1969 S2 2+2 RHD E type. The one I removed and the replacement that I recently purchased is part no 11086 which only has holes on the vertical section for mounting. But there are 4 holes on the horizontal surface where the bracket mounts on my 2+2 . (The old one had been drilled on the base section to match 2 of these holes.)
Further research to the parts book shows that there is a different part C.31237 for the 2+2 with 4 associated screws.
The usual suppliers don't seem to stock this part and Google cant identify it either.
Does anyone have one lying around? Or know what it looks like? Even a photo would help.
The Series 3 2+2 uses a completely different bottle and bracket.
Thanks in advance

Thanks Steve

Much appreciated. From your photo, it looks like the bracket is totally different to the one that is readily available (11086).

Even the strap is different. Wide black one, instead of thin beige one.

So the hunt begins for the correct bracket....... (it's not the first time I have found the wrong part on my car, and probably not the last!)

Best regards

Hi Steve
Yes that is the one that I bought as a replacement (11086 from SNGB as I recall), and is the same as the one that I removed. Need to drill two holes in the base to make it fit. The base is too narrow to use all four holes.

It would be good to find the correct C.31237 bracket if possible, but it looks like it will end up being a second-hand one, if I can find one, that is.....

See the parts listing attached.

Steve

Hi steve, I've just signed up, and I'm restoring my jaguar and I think the part you're looking for is this one in the photo. I started to replicate several damaged sheet metal of my car including this piece which I replicated starting from a used one, I made two for safety, so I have one left over, if you are still interested let me know. The workpiece must be re-galvanised for spot welds. maurizio

Not sure on the potential differences between LHD/RHD and OTS models, but my RHD OTS car has the bracket that you first used, mounted right next to the heater box on the bulkhead. This has 3 mounting screws and mounts onto 3 captive nuts in the bulkhead, with spacers. I re-furbished this, and it needs a short length of Pirelli upholstery webbing to make the strap, with a couple of solid dome head rivets holding it together.

I can find no references to the other part number, but clearly there is a different arrangement in circulation, depending on the model or market, I guess?

my car comes from the united states, so it drives on the left, and it mounted that support on the sill on the filter side; Maybe it was only supplied for cars exported to the US or maybe for cars made after a date (mine is built 04/1970), the earlier ones didn't have a license plate there? I've only seen 2 series 2+2 cars with that mount, I think the forum experts know.

Hi Maurizio
Very interested in your spare bracket.

Have sent you an email.

Looks like you have some work ahead to get your car back on the road.
