#1 Seriers 2 for Auction

This looks a reasonable estimate for a Series 2 , Are the Auction boys marking it down to attract interest or are there issues with the car.? I am assuming it is a left hand to RH conversion

Any thoughts? What would you bid up to?

Tony : it is quite a nice looker from the photos BUT YUY 230G does not appear on the DVLA register , which is very troubling. Before you do anything, give Brightwell's a ring and ask them why . It may be as simple as a recently reallocated number instead of a private plate, but you need to know that before even thinking of bidding

Brightwell's estimates are not terribly reliable - they are rather inexperienced in the classic field - but they have sold some quite rare cars in the past 2 years or so

Assuming its reg and title are ok , what you bid is definitely dependent on condition, and one cannot just take " nut and bolt restoration" at face value. You want to know who did it, when, what was done , where and by whom it was painted , whether there is a photo record etc

Bear in mind that although the S2 is probably the most practical, it is the least sought after series, which tends to limit the prices . I would not rule out a bid in the late thirties to 40K if it genuinely was a total rebuild done by someone who knew what they were doing with decent panel fit
