I recently fitted a new temperature sender
( from SC) to my 1969 4.2 but despite using the copper washer that cane with the sender unit it leaks coolant all over the inlet manifold once the water gets up to temperature. I’ve tried adding a fibre washer under the brass washer, and even used a small amount of plumbing tape wrapped around the threads, but to no avail. Can anyone in the group who has replaced the sender unit successfully advise how to prevent a leak? Thanks!
Leaking temperature sender

Check the sealing face on the manifold and sender are both good. Anneal the copper washer, then you should be ok. Plumber’s tape won’t help as the joint seals on the faces, not the threads.

Thanks Tom - tried that but still has a slight weep. Might see if I can find a suitable size rubber washer to use under the brass washer. Bit mysterious.

It would also be worth checking what pressure cap your car has fitted. Maybe it’s too high?
