#1 New Member ..LHD to RHD conversion.

Hello All.
I've recently purchased a series 2 E Type from USA. While waiting for my registration documents and age related reg. number from DVLA ( Could be another month or two due to covid-19) I've decided to convert to RHD now, rather than wait until l take it off the road during the winter months.
Just wondered if someone could post some detailed photo's of the bulkhead areas to include: Throttle linkage, brake fluid bottle bracket near the heater fan, brake/clutch pipe location. (Photo's with engine out would be great) Plus any photo's you think would be useful.
I have seen the post that Mike Cassidy posted on this forum regarding LHD to RHD conversion and found it really useful. Many Thanks.

Mike Cassidy does cover it all rather well. Check out the parts book to see the differences between LHD and RHD. It may take you a while to accumulate all the parts - it may be worthwhile you going down that road BEFORE you dismantle the car - frustration may get to you if the car is made undriveable during the summer.
You mention XKE data - well there are a lot of photos on there -

so all the best with your conversion

Mike. Barrie.
Thanks for your reply's. I've checked E Type Data, I found a couple of photo's that are helpful but most are LHD cars. I'm looking for detailed photo's around the bulkhead area. also the routing of the brake/clutch pipes.
I've managed to get a genuine steering rack, accelerator pedal and housing and most of the throttle linkage from ebay, just looking for a pair of dashboards and a few other bits, but l can go to the usual's for those.
Mike. Yes, I've read all 10 sections of Mike Cassidy's post. Very helpful.

Cheers Phil.

Hi Phil,

Have a look on Chris Vine's blog restoring an original rhd OTS, lots of pictures on there and go on the Angus Moss, Moss Jaguar website, again lots of detailed pics there of cars they have restored.
As Barrie says above, I found the parts book diagrams really useful when i converted mine to rhd.
Remember the wiper rack needs altering as well as the park position of the motor. RHD dash panels are available from Andy at Hutsons, he will also bend your pedals for a small fee.
If it is a US car with Strombergs are you converting to SU?

That was just the photo I was looking for. If you don't mind, I'll take you up on your offer of more photo's once I make a start.

Cheers Phil.

Thanks Simon.
Yes, I've seen Chris Vines blog and bookmarked it along with Mike Cassidy's post. Handy to know Hutsons will reshape the pedals. With 3 SU's and a manifold fetching around £4 to £5.OOO. So don't think Ill be joining the SU club just yet. At sometime I'll be looking to change the rear axle ratio from 3.54 to 3.07.

Cheers Phil.

Phil

I did a 'bulkhead forward' restoration of my S2 (original RHD) last year so have many photographs that will be useful.

Happy to sort out a transfer through Google drive share or send you a USB Stick.

PM me if it's of interest. Delighted to help.

cheers
Ash
