Help with trim please

Hoping for a bit of advice on this. Just had someone round to look at my car - trim getting very tired. He seemed very knowledgeable but confused me with a couple of things that I'd like to check out on here.
First, he said that my headlining is just on foam stuck to the roof, whereas it should be on a "biscuit board" which is fixed to the roof. Is that right?

Next, I spoke about the dash top. I thought this was something that was covered with vynyl, that you could take off and re-cover. He said the dash top is just molded plastic fixed to a frame underneath, and you buy a new dash top if required. Again, is this right? I can't find dash tops on the SNG site

Have a look at Aldridge Trimming. They sell ( and fit ) dash tops

The dash tops are indeed covered in a moulded plastic which you can buy and then mould over your dash top frame.

BAS International sell (and I believe make them).

For a FHC the headlining is glued direct to the roof. I believe that for a 2+2 a biscuit is used but I'm sure someone will comment definitively.

For the S1 FHC’s, most of the suppliers sell the headlining (wool) with a foam backing as a single unit, which you glue (high temp adhesive) directly to the roof. Some will sell the wool cloth and the foam separately.

Hello Malcolm,
Not all of the foam backing for the headlining, supplied by the various vendors, is made equal. Avoid the highly porous foam, that will absorb glue, as this is very easy to leave hand prints and bumps when gluing it to the inside of the turret. The best material I've seen is supplied by BAS and has a very dense but flexible structure.

Yes, I used the material and adhesive supplied by BAS, very satisfactory and easy to install.
