I think the best one available is from ClassicFabs - they bought the tooling and processes from Uryk at E Type Fabs and when he was making them, they were the best in the market.

Failing that, I am not sure there is a lot of difference in the others.

Ulveston is selling a stainless steel exhaust from his Series 2. Would it fit a Series 1????

I went the classic Fabs route and they are the best I have seen. I dont think I have seen a bad report anywhere.

+1 ClassicFabs - superb construction (see if you can spot the welds) and their new mounting system is practically unbreakable.

There is a review of the system here: http://etypeuk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=287

S2 tail pipes:

And while you are at it order a set of Dave Kerr's s/s heat shields: http://etypeuk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1657

Are you keeping the car standard with splayed tail pipes or do you fancy going down the Pete Crespin route of S1 pipes and no stainless steel rear panel? We really do need a better picture Pete!

David : On my S2 I have the straight pipes and have kept the stainless panel. It's the oblong number plate that makes such a difference to the looks

I think Pete went a bit further with Lotus Elan rear light clusters to get rid of the separate reversing lights and he dumped the stainless light clam shells.

Did I mention we need better pictures Pete?

Yeah yeah - on their way Cap'n!

I washed the car for the first time this year on Saturday and (I think) only the second time ever since I rebuilt it. Of course it was sunny so there are loads of water stains on it but don't ask me to polish it. I don't do polish - too busy driving the thing.

Bert (00 Series?) came round on Saturday to pick up a flywheel and he was looking at the back end too, as his is an S2. I'll take a few pics tonight.

Here's a pic I snapped this morning David, complete with non-flush boot lid, non-horizontal bumper and non-matching resonators  Still, when someone gives you their cast-off exhaust system for free you don't complain. Sounds nice and soft being mild steel, not tinny like some stainless systems do.

I prefer the sound from a mild steel system.
Anybody know where I can get ??
or at least the mufflers...??

Argh - someone deleted their picture on Photobucket! Come on guys, the Photobucket service is free and the limit on uploads is something like 100,000 pictures. Just leave them there for ever.

Why is the old post from April resurfacing here?

If anyone wants a pic of my arse-end (well, the car's) there is one here that will stay on PB until E-types become turbo diesels, or hell freezes over - whichever comes first.

Pete

I have added a French view of your derri?re to the above post as a substitute and for completeness. Basically when anyone puts a photo on this Forum it is not saved on our servers, it is just an implanted link to read off the Photobucket servers - smoke and mirrors! Don't worry you are not alone - Angus has done the same on a thread he created about Factory Fit, and others too numerous to mention have also been tidying up their photo hosting accounts.

As regards old posts, as soon as anyone adds/replies to a thread it immediately jumps to the top of the Forum no matter how old it is.

If anyone wants the link to my my entire repository let me know... there are loads more photos of the restoration that i DONT post on this forum and I keep a backup copy on the photobucket site
