Thank you for the info.Jeff Cecil wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2019 9:09 pmThe final step is to remove the series 2 tailpipes and replace with the series 1 pipes.
I already have the S1 pipes, also have the MGB lamps. Just need winter to turn up now.

#235 Re: Series 2 aesthetics
Perhaps not to every Series 2 owner's taste but I decided make a slimmer rear bumper centre section to try to give the rear end a more delicate look. This involved modifying two series 1 over riders and making a new centre section from scratch. I've also fitted Series1 rubber seals, again to hopefully give a better look aesthetically.
The whole lot was chromed by Howells who once again have made a super job.
Thoughts / Comments positive or negative welcome and given what a pain it was, no I won't be making any more.
Oh and thanks to Neal Herridge for the overriders.
Seals were from BAS, they are a bit softer and smaller than the Baines ones I got. (same part number)

Thanks Geoff(s), yes the idea has been with anything I’ve done to the car is that it is reversible. The original panel behind the number plate will be left off but I will make a bracket that holds the number plate so I don’t have to drill the body. I’ve bought some Lotus Elan lights with the integral reversing lights to do away with the original ones. I’ve modified the backing plates too so the lights fit tighter up under the bumper and will make two fillets sprayed body colour to close the gap at the sides rather than use the bulky chrome horns. All work in progress though
I like what you have done with the lights. My theory is that the S3 was in development when they decided on the lights for the S2 and Jaguar simply cobbled something up to fill the gaps. On an S3 the lower wings flow into the lights which is why to my mind they don’t look out of place on an S3. There’s no thread “S3 aesthetics “ because the back end, lights, bumper looks more designed and in proportion.
All my own personal opinion, others may love the S2 rear end just as it left the factory.
