Car looking good on the front cover, Simon! Recognised the reg straight away There's something quite satisfying about seeing one's own photo in print like that.

I like a series 2 look sometimes. They are all brilliant cars and from the driver's seat, much the same.

And sooooo, Simon, two years from the last post in this long dead discussion, you are still trying to convince yourself that the "out of the bin" Lotus Elan lights and the "out of the bin MGB, Triumph, etc. reverse lights still look good? My sympathies for you and other purists having to live with the ugly ass, ASS, of your series 2. Do you ever wonder why the thread title "Series 2 aesthetics" is the most viewed thread in the E-Type forum? I'm SURE it's because everyone is so thrilled about the rear end and side marker lights etc., of the series 2.

Jeff, how nice to hear from you again. I think you’ll find the glamour photos beat this topic by a margin, but being up there is still an interesting point. In Britain we always blame you ‘Mericans for the butt ugly backside as it made it comply with US or certainly Californian regs. All being said with tongue firmly in cheek.
Cheers
Geoff (spelt properly, you notice )

Geoff, how did I know you would be the first to respond to my post? I'm so glad in your post that you finally admit that it IS an "butt ugly backside". Blame us all you want, but without the sales in the USA, there would hardly have been any built at all. Oh, so that is your tongue in your cheek!

And, my last name is probably more British than yours.

Oh, I don’t mind the back of an S2, my term of butt ugly was to reflect your thoughts. Which makes me wonder, why do you have an S2 not an S1

Better brakes, better airflow to engine to prevent overheating, better front lights at night, WAYYYY more comfortable seats, with basically same horsepower (even more if I work the engine up with speed parts), Neg ground electrics, shall I go on? Oh, and with a few light mods and deletions I have a car that Is better all round. Quick note, just so you know. 99% of the people that see my car do not even know there is an series1, series 2, or series 3. They don't know if it is a Porche or a Jag or a whatever, they just know they like it a lot. When I bought my car it was light blue. I thought that color sucked so bad I changed it when I restored the car, by myself. Yes, everything done by me, in my home garage. Did you restore yours?
Oh ,yeah, I have owned an series 1, so I do know the difference.

Then you have the same thoughts as Simon and me about the superiority of the S2. We are all in agreement.
I’ve worked a fair amount on the FHC and as my signature says I’m doing a complete restoration (me, myself and I doing the work) of an OTS. The more we own and drive our light blue car the more we like the colour. But choice of colours can be even more in the eye of the beholder.
