As for getting calipers rebuilt for about the same as buying the parts as Johnetype suggested, I very much doubt that could be achieved, if it was possible they must rebuild them for nothing.
It cost me 70 quid to rebuild my rear calipers, including plating, 4 new pistons (standard not st/st) and new seals and I had the pleasure of doing it myself which helped relieve the lockdown boredom.
I paid £90 + VAT each for my for front callipers to be refurbished including plating and S/S pistons. I judge that to be good value for safety critical items.

Does anyone know the torque setting when reassembling the two halves of the callipers TIA

I have used the specs below for my calipers. I can't recall where I found it and I have to reject any resposibility if you use them.

- Manfred

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The torque values specified by Volvo for the P1800
calipers in 1961 were:
Tightening torque,
- inner bolts 45-50 Ib.ft. (6.2- 7 kgm)
- outer bolts 25-30 Ib.ft. (3.5-4.2 kgm)

These are ver simmilar calipers to S2 and S3, the ony
difference is a (very) small piston difference.

These must be Girling figures, otherwise Volvo would not
quote them.

I have also taken a few apart, and the only problem I ever
saw was the rust on the caliper threads which weakened the
thread.

However, I would always take them apart - the rectangular
o-ring might have decayed during lsts 40 years...

Giring part no for the o- ring is: 67320782, used by eg.
XK Unlimited.
