Thank you for the pointer to the distributor doctor. Unfortunately, they replied that they don't have the distributor gear avalable.

I am a bit astonished that such a "common" item is unobtainable. Since it is made from bronze, it is made to fail before any damage is done to the driving gear in the block. Is there any alternative beside buying a used or switching to an aftermarket distributor?

Thank you, Manfred

Manfred, is it a part that is in the engine or the distributor?
If it's part of the engine then some breakers may have them. Have you got the part number?
Try Ken Jenkins: http://www.ukjag.co.uk/stock/ or Chris Forbes +44 1676 541917

Unfortunately, the parts manual doesn't list a part number for the gear. I will try Jenkins first.

Thanks, Manfred

Hi Manfred,

Whilst there is no guarantee I would suggest also looking at E-Bay for any Lucas XJS HE or Non HE V12 Distributor & then remove the Gear Drive from this & fit it to your distributor as whilst the Distributor components are different (& won't work in an E-Type) but I believe the gear drive is the same for all.

The complete Lucas HE V12 Distributor definitely meshes with the E-Type Camshaft Gear (as it is what I was running in mine) so hopefully the gear it is interchangeable in isolation.

You would need to confirm postage to Germany but there is currently a distributor on E-Bay UK for £45:00 + Postage that might sort out your problem?

Hope this helps, good luck.
