headlight failure

Okay before I go into the realms of fantasy, my headlights are not working on dipped beam, sides and full beam are fine as are the tail lights so
1. check bulbs (would it be normal for both to fail at same time)
2, check fuses (not sure if single fuse supplies all)
3 check dash switch ( if power going to headlights where is the relay ? )

ok not rocket science but as its pouring with rain a little pre help always comes in handy
made myself pretty unpopular at goodwood when I explained to ser 1 and 2 owners why the ser 3 is a far superior car (having owned ser 1 ) and have use of sons ser 2 and 99 percent of earlier car owners have never driven a 3, don't get me wrong not dissing the 1 and 2 but the 3 was natural progression

According to my wiring diagram it seems that fuse 2 (35 amp) has blown. This protects only the low beam filaments so is the likely cause. However, the fuse will have blown for a reason so it might be wise to check the wiring etc. Although it could be that a bulb blew and took the fuse with it.

If it ever stops raining I will check the fuse and drop test the lighting circuits,

Hi John....your car is a S3 i assume.....do you have a wireing diagram...there,s one in the knowledge base section shows 19 as a 2 way fuse unit but that feeds both high and low beam, so you need to check connections..try to put your name and car model in as a signature.....Steve

Make sure you actually have Bulbs, just changed my sealed beam unit!!!! Haven't seen one of those since my dad changed one in his Viva!
The series 3 is better looking as well........ Don't you think?

There are two fuses. One for the high beams and one for the dipped beam. They should be the top two fuses on the left side of the center gauge cluster. The turn signal switch powers the high beams when pulled towards the steering wheel.
I think the low beam is the second fuse. Check them with a meter or light to quickly determine if they work. The switch should be okay if you have high beams.
Sounds like a fuse or wiring issue.
