Dear Forum colleagues,
before trying to start the engine I have to buy a new exhaust system for my 1971 S3.
The pre owner has removed the mid silencers to get a better Sound (see other posts concerning sound).
The rear silencer is so much corroded that it collides with the body if I tighten the mounting screws.
I want to rebuilt it to original spec (even if is silent!).
Which supplier would you recommend and should I take a stainless steel part or not?
Thanks for your advice
Sven

I always use the Bell stainless systems from SNGB. High quality, good fit very good price.
Caveat. I've not fitted a V12 one.

#3 Re: exhaust
Hi. I concur the SNGB supplied Bell system for my V12 was great. My caveat is that I bought it back in 2005 or thereabouts, it may be a different spec now. I have not done a huge amount of km since fitting in around 2011, but happy overall.
One problem I encountered was that the O shaped rubber hangers deteriorated rapidly and the exhaust was low on fitment. The hangers were bought at the same time but never saw real use as the exhaust was too low at the roadworthy test and I ended up trying an exhaust centre for something similar, which has stood the test of time. Again, original units were bought a long time ago and may be better now.
