Removal of transmission tunnel trim

Probably a very simple task, but having got the radio surrounds out, I thought it would be easy to remove the transmission cover trim. Whatever position you get it into, the hand brake lever is just too long to be able to remove the trim. The only other option was to take out the central dashboard with all the instruments. Before I do this, I thought I would ask the solution! Cheers guys.

Dear Barry,

Remove the chrome button from the end of the handbrake lever (it is screwed on), then set the handbrake lever fully up, more fully up than you ever have before.....

I've just had the same problem and used the "Marek" solution. It's a very tight fit but what's new?

I am pleased to say, the solution worked, but it really was a tight fit. Bearing in mind my hand brake has been adjusted with little travel. The next task will be fitting a brand new one back! The same problem in reverse......

You might be interested to know the reason for all this is to renew the radio surrounds and fit a modern but appropriate looking radio, blue tooth music and phone. I am also cleaning up the gauges, and fitting new gaskets and seals as well as re-painting the bezels satin black. Whilst all that is going on, the seats are at New Forest Classics being completely re-furnished. The door cards are being renewed as well.
