#1 Changing needle size on ZS CD-2 Carbs

Post by jagwit » Thu Feb 15, 2018 5:52 pm

Often, when I drive my E-type, I have friends in their cars driving with in convoy. We normally have 2-way radios to have comms while we are driving. They often reported that my car as blowing blackish smoke out the exhaust when at full throttle.

This motivated me to change the current needle size (B1BH) on the carbs to a needle with a wider tip as clearly the engine was being overfuelled at full throttle. Phoned Burlen, explained what I want to do and was recommended a needle to change to (B1CN).

Installed them and whilst I might be imagining things, I do believe the car feels perkier now....
Best Regards
Philip

I had someone drive next to me today and observing the exhaust on my car while I was applying full throttle and at high revs. No more black smoke. This indicates that the car is now running much healthier air-to-fuel ratios than before, which pleases me greatly.
