#1 alternator

Dear Forum colleagues,
next job on my list to get the E running again is the refurbishment of my Butec alternator.
I have started disassembly to change the bearings which have really reached end of their life.
Now I'm wondering if the unsoldering of the outer slip rings is really a DIY job?
I'm afraid that if I damage something the alternator might be ruined.
I have refurbished several Bosch and Delco alternators but there I never had to remove the slip rings.
What is your experience?
Did you do it by yourself or did you rely on a professional workshop.
Thank you for advice
Sven
