This morning new water pump in place on the xjs engine from my S3.
I though to be on the way to finish the front of the engine, place the belts, the alternator the radiator and then plan to work on the next step : the wiring looms.
I m now stuck because of the crankshaft pulley. The 3d groove is too large for the steering pump belt.
I need to find from an E Type or the one from a V12 XJ s1 ge. It looks like the E Type one. ...

Can't you take your belt to a drive specialist and ask for a fatter version? It may ride a little high if the other pulley is now too narrow, but at least it should work?

Hi Peter
The problem is more that the belt touch the large tube coming from the oil filter than the rev speed from the steering pump. As you said it should work even if it is a bit low.
Because the diameter is larger on the engine side, the belt is too down.
Hope my explanation is clear.

Hi Michel
I bought a V12 engine from an XJ12 HE in order to use the EFI bits to convert my series 3 to fuel injection.
Would the pully from this spare engine be the one you need?
I will send you a photograph later on today, when I am back home .....
Regards

Hi Paul,
Thank for your proposal.
Maybe. It depends from the 3d pulley diameter.
It has to be smaller than the 2 other ones.
I m waiting for your picture.

Hello Michel
I am so sorry, the PO seems to have removed the pully before I received the engine!
I DID tell him that I was only interested in the EFI components .......
Again, my apologies .
Paul

The xjs engine is a 1989 one and i use the late kind of water pump.
I do not have issue on this side. Only on the oil tube comming from the oil filter. I m far from home. I will try to take pictures closer when I m back.
I can show at least this one :

Hello Michel. My interpretation is that only an E-type pulley will work, part C32528. I don’t believe it was used on any other car, I interpret that all XJ12, XJS use the larger one, part C37892.
Because of the oil filter pipe, only E-types have this (oil filter at the front).
You may need to get a pulley made, should not be difficult?
Where did you get that water pump inlet from? Enables the later water pump to be used on an E, nice!

I finally found one on Ebay, in the US.
I hope now that the old pulley can be fixed on the xjs part without too much problem.
I ll keep the forum informed
Go the pulley last Friday.
Close to the XJS one,
