#1 Tremec 5 Speed box V12

Post by salmon » Tue Nov 05, 2019 7:55 pm

Hi all,

I have just got to the stage on my total rebuild where I am fitting the Tremec gearbox as supplied by Elite gearboxes.
I brought the full kit with the Hydraullic clutch release bearing or as some seem to call it throw out bearing.

The hydraullic bearing comes with a bleed nipple but no flexible hose. The female thread for the hose is a very fine & I guess is 12mm. I can’t find an adaptor for that thread that takes it to the standard threads used for E types. Ideally it would have a metric to imperial conversion nipple or hose.

Can anyone tell me a solution?

Regards

Roy

Hi Roy...contact https://automec.co.uk/collections/fittings they have plenty of fittings....or from other suppliers you could have a flexi made up to your spec....just look online for hydraulic clutch/brake lines...Steve

Make sure you adjust the release bearing correctly. Does it use shims? A friend’s mechanic fitted one last year from a US supplier and shimmed marginally tight. After 17,000 the clutch began slipping and burned.

Thanks guys.
It doesn't need shimming according to the supplier, so fingers crossed. I might check the dimensions now you have put doubt in my mind.

I just got a 420G back from CMC, where they fitted a T-5 supplied by Elite transmissions. It makes a terrible noise on 5th. Screetching, cutting sort of noise. I ave only driven it 3-4 times and only short moments in 5th. They claim not to have noticed anything, but I don´t think they did any motorway in 5th.
They say itś correctly filled with ATF, and are not being very helpful. They have disappointed me with most cars, and this was the last time I use them, but that is another story.
Anyone got an idea on the noise in 5th?

What 5th gear ratio did you specify.
