Dear forum members....
I have taken my 3 pot front callipers, that we’re acting on ventilated discs, apart to deal with corroded pistons and unsurprisingly useless seals.
No problem I thought....whilst there I’ll shotblast the calliper halves and then recoat in an appropriate spec paint replace the pistons with stainless ones etc etc.
However when splitting the callipers the small spacers that allow for ventilated discs are sealed with EPDM o rings....can’t get these little blighters even from the usual suppliers. One of whom said “you shouldn’t separate the callipers halves .....
Really !!!!! Try replacing pistons and seals without.
So does anyone know a supplier for these little bits.
There must be forum members who have done this.
Pete.

It was quite a while since I purchased this o ring but I think it is this:

When I did this I discovered that you need to know what you're asking for.
They are called caliper channel seals. Any brake place should be able to supply them for you if you provide a sample.
I know that the ones for the Girling Volvo front calipers used as upgrades on the S1 cars are available from Moss motors part # 583-820. This seal measures 0.480" OD x 0.075" thick. Searching the Moss site it seems to be the same one for the S2 and S3 front caliper, as linked above by 71 V12.

WRT not splitting calipers. I think this is just one of those internet myths that propagate themselves.
If you take a caliper to a brake repairer for a rebuild they will split them so they can clean them properly and will routinely replace the channel seal so it doesn't leak.
You might consider whether you want to replace the caliper bolts with new high tensile ones. I sometimes do, sometimes don't. If I don't, I just wire wheel the bolts but do not have them plated.

Couldn’t agree more!
If you don’t split the callipers you only do half a job.
Thanks all for your words of wisdom...ask the right question ....etc etc searching for “calliper bridge seals” was the most productive, although “calliper spacer o rings” was close behind.
Now all sorted, some stock ordered.
The forum rises to the challenge again...brill!

I did mine 20 years ago and was able to source bits, including those o rings, from my local brake supplier.
Yes they have to be split.
Because the car has been siting so long I will have to do them again.
