Mine does that occasionally. It’s usually because the T handle on the opening cable wasn’t pushed fully into its socket from the last time I operated it. I’ve got in the habit of pushing the T-handle Firmly back in after I’ve opened the boot.

hi
yes mine used to do this regularly. I found two issues, firstly as mentioned make sure you push the release handle back in after opening the boot. This resets the locking mechanism.
The second issue I found was that the locking bar mounted on the Boot lid was not engaging properly with the lock mechanism in the car, I used my iphone taking delayed photos in the boot after I closed the lid to confirm this. The solution was to put washers under the locking bar plate on the boot lid to lower it. You could also just make a spacer plate to achieve the same result.
Cheers

Mine used to pop at every bump. Looking at it found that T shaped cut out in housing preventing full movement of latch so boot only holding on a sliver. Widened slot and no further problems. As insurance Wilko sell a keyring chain for about 2 pounds shorten this and with a couple of split rings you can clip body to boot lid with boot slightly open so even if boot does pop it can't open more than a few centimetres
