#1 ser 3 driveshafts

Post by jonhall88 » Wed Aug 26, 2020 9:03 pm

After having a severe argument with a lump of something very hard on the road one of my driveshafts and the uj is wrecked. question: does anyone know of a repair shop that can weld a gouge where the uj fits the driveshaft and then machine it to fit a new UJ. or anyone have one laying around in their garage they would like to sell. my driveshaft has been dye penned and is free of cracks and has been laser checked and is perfectly straight, seems a shame to bin it.

Hi...its quit common in the "C-D-Ss100" replica world to use an XJ6 rear suspension cut down to suit the build...so not unusual to shorten driveshafts.....i would look for a used xj6 driveshaft (if you cant find a E replacement) and have it cut down to size.....Steve

Hi
I have used and know people who have used, a company in Coventry “Dave MacPropshafts “ they have shortened my Drive shafts and reengineered my propshaft with great success on my S3 , (PO Peter Mitchell was also a great fan), he made an excellent job of rebuilding the double joint on my 101FC Land Rover.....not an easy job!
Good luck
Peter.

Or you could measure your other good drive shaft....Steve

send your old shaft to Dave Mac and ask him to measure and duplicate. In the unlikely event that its not correct, then its his problem.
dont think you'll get any problems though.
