Thanks for yoour inputs guys. I shall sadly stop looking for the book now Colin and probably forget about the vacuum tube as well because since found that one of the temperature units has somehow been burnt out and no replacement available through SNG or the likes.

Hi John,
The extract was from the later, tan coloured USA Specification Handbook pub No. A181/1 shown below. Worth getting to help understand the emissions kit and contains information not in the Workshop Manual but does not contain detailed system operation descriptions, being mainly dismantling/reassembling oriented.

A reprint is listed by the JEC for £15.95 but I don't know which version it is: https://jec.org.uk/shop/collections/guides-manuals. SNGB used to list it but no longer seem to.
