#1 Impossible to remove cylinder heads

Post by carlv12 » Thu Sep 30, 2010 2:49 pm

Hello,

it's impossible to remove the cylinder heads of my E Type V12. My mechanic has tried with anti-rust spray, heat etc. Nothing. Heads and block seem to be a unit after 38 years.

Who has an idea or advice?

Thank you and best regards from Valencia

Carlos

Carlos

This was recently discussed in this thread: http://etypeuk.com/forum/viewtopic.php? ... c&start=15

It also shows the special tool you can buy/make to help with head removal. Worth sending a PM to MarkE (our moderator) as he has some considerable experience in this area. alternatively he will probably drop by and add a post here.

Using a plate is the only way once they are stuck, Carlos. You could try and remove each stud one by one, as maybe a few will come out, making the rest of the pulling job a little easier. In the worst case you may have to have the stuck studs partially drilled out, whch may mean sacrificing the head(s).

Carlos : by a coincidence, there is a private sale advertisement for the head removal tool in the JEC magazine which I received yesterday. It is UK ? 45 and the number is 0208 404 7897 , which from Spain I think will be 0044 208 404 7897
