Oil Filter

Hi All,
Newby here so go easy!.

I am in the process of restoring a S3. I am converting to efi but thats for another post.
A friend of mine keeps hitting his oil filter causing leaks etc, he really takes it easy on bumpy roads and speed bumps etc. Has anybody tried out the screw on type that Rob Bere has for sale?, will this cure the problem.
Friend has had ride height,engine mounts, correct tyres etc all checked.

I would rather fit one of these than have all the trouble ny friend has had.

I had a similar problem with the old element style filter; could never get a perfect seal so 2 years ago I changed to the Rob Beere screw on type and that's cured the problem.

I've just got the standard setup. Never had any leakage problems myself so its not a mod I would have ever considered

Last year a local oil change business changed my oil in the 1973 V12 2+2 . It was the old style oval can and rubber gasket with a separate filter element. They botched the re-assembly job and I slowly leaked out oil until I realized what happened.

No damage done but to prevent this from ever happening again I bought an aluminum adaptor out of ebay that permanently bolts on and then uses an spin on filter. Some machineist makes them in his shop.

No problems at all and it is simple to assemble. If I recall correctly , the cost was under $100 . I know this isn't fully "Jaguar" but I kept the old parts for the future if I sell the car.

1. Can you give a web adress for this item ? I have also problems with my old oil filter can and would like to change to the spin of type.
2. I had a big loss of oil every day at the old filter can. When I checked the "border" of this canister, where the rubber is pressed, I have realised, that the has been some very slight damage at the surface. This I could check with a 10 x glas.
I have put sanding-paper an a thick piece of window glas or shining wall file to grind of some material, until the surface feels and looks perfect. Since I have done this, very few oil is comming out of the canister.

I used a later XJ filter housing on my Series 1 because its cheaper - can you do teh same for V12's?

Just a thought before parting with hard earned pennies.

I tried and tried but could not get all the parts to work together.

So I have bought a Spin Off oil filter conversion from Cool Cats in NY.

Looks impressive $175inc. A little Job for this weekend!
