#1 missing dip stick and assembly

Post by Nomisblue01 » Fri Dec 30, 2016 7:05 pm

Afternoon All.

My S3 V12 Auto LHD is missing its dipstick plus associated bits. Having checked the usual stockist no joy.

Does anyone have a spare available?

Will any Jaguar V12 one work?.

Does anyone know where to get one.

thx
Simon

Dear Simon,

Just get one from an XJS or XJ12 and rebend it. I can send you a photo via regular email with the correct dimensions at the sump end if you pm me your details.

From memory, it needs shortening by about an inch, but my memeory may be wrong....

kind regards
Marek

I have a spare XJ12 HE engine with a dipstick you can have. I am up in Cheshire but will be driving down to Leigh on Sea for a few days in February, if that is any good to you.

Hi Paul, thx for offer. Have just bought one from a XJS, so will tweak to fit the XKE.

Other forum kind folks have sent me pictures so I can compare the two. Will post when I get the two together.

Car nearly ready for pre-mot inspection. bank acc on alert.

Hi All.

Well the XJS v12 dipstick and tube has arrived. Have measured against the photo supplied by Marek, looks the same length to me. will post image on the facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2353191 ... =bookmarks

So there is a way out of the missing dipsticks.

regards
Simon

#6 XJS to e-type S3 v12 dipstick conversion

Post by Nomisblue01 » Thu Jan 19, 2017 6:27 pm

Evening All

Success today, XJS dipstick converted into S3 v12, thx to the info from Bob and Marek

Removed 8mm from the top of the dipstick sleeve, so all measurements on the protruding dipstick match a standard s3 v12 into the block. As per measurements supplied.

Job done. :-)
