Series 2 wiper motor

Hi all . I have searched . But not really found the answer .
So he goes . Does anyone know where they go / What the do ..... the 5 wires coming out of my LHD 69 series 2 wiper motor . Cheers for any ideas ps ment to post in technical. Any chance it can be moved please

Yup. At last I can return the favour!

Motor
Green - Continuous power feed to fuse 7 (needed for park) and supplies power to GR.
Black - Ground to bolt on bulkhead with washer
YG (Yellow Green) - goes to YG Fast wipe on the switch
UG (Blue Green) - goes to UG - Slow wipe on the switch
GR (Green Red) - goes to GR on the switch.

Switch
YG - Fast Wipe. Goes to #2 on the switch
G - Power feed for YG from fuse 6 goes to #4 on the switch
UG - Slow Wipe. Goes to #5 on the switch
GR - Goes to #7 on the switch and power feed for UG.

Hi Mark . Thanks for replying. As it goes with my AVO meter and battery I sussed what the wires did . The only slight niggle I have . The new switches I've chosen haven't got a dedicated wiper switch . So I've got two speeds but lost the park . But this is not a real problem as the wiper on my frog are manual parked . So it's something that's become second nature . And the most important thing is the motor works fine and dandy and they ARE WORKING !!!

TBH I've rarely used the slow speed - Rainex usually reduces the need for wipers at all. What is the switch you have? If it is a 3 pos, off, on, it should work. You need 2 separate power feeds though.

Trying to figure out how to do this on my series 2 with a series 1 switch
I found that the off position on the switch does not connect any of the terminals together while pos 1 connects terminal 2 with 3 and 6 while position 2 connects 2 with 1 and 3

On the switch there is 6 terminals so I was hoping that the last two ( 4 and 5) was connect together when the switch was off, then I would have had park as well.

Is my switch faulty or what do the last to terminals do? Does anyone have any idea on how to get the wiper park to work with this switch or is there another switch that looks the same and does the job?

I can confirm that this worked.
Park, slow and slower

But my question still remains
Is it possible to take of the toggle part (black plastic on the switch) and somewhere get a correct one for the e type?

Belated answer for you - yes the toggle (plastic lever) just pulls off and the E-type version pushes on.

Hi All
I am just going to jump on the end of this thread as I too am having the nightmare of a series 1 toggle switch and a series 2 motor with 5 block connector. ( I have posted before on the technical section titled Wiper motor woes, and have posted some images there.
I have read the comments with interest and purchased the Lucas switch suggested in anticipation .
So could you just summarise:
As to how the loom wires connect to the toggle switch (ie which coloured wire connects to what numbered terminal on new switch) and then what coloured wire connects to what number terminal on the 5 terminal connector block to the motor.
Sorry if I’m not getting something or am making you repeat but I’m baffled by the dark arts of car electrics and this problem is really testing me. Thanks in advance.

First thing would be to give member Quattrofrank a pm - could help a lot.
The replacement switch contact arrangement is shown above. This shows me the green (+ve) goes to terminal 6 the fast function wire to terminal 2 the slow function wire to terminal 4 and the park return wire from the wiper motor park switch goes to terminal 8. All the series 1 wires with the LG trace are redundant and able to be used for the conversion - I don't see any more need to be run.

Right got your pics - I see on your plug the red/light green wire and the brown/light green are transposed for some reason. So to avoid confusion, If I give you your pin out connections in terminal number form then everything should work as intended.

Switch terminal 6 = +ve or 12v positive feed ( Green wire from fuses)
switch terminal 2 = Fast function wire - to terminal 3 on plug
switch terminal 4 = Slow function wire - to terminal 5
switch terminal 8 = Park switch output - to terminal 2
motor plug Terminal 4 + ve or 12v positive feed
motor plug Terminal 1 - ve or negative (earth)

Note there is a 12v positive to both the motor and the dash switch. They can be connected together if convenient.
I see your motor is already fitted - but you do not know the park position as yet so best to remove wiper arms until tested. If the wipers park the wrong way the drive arm needs to be turned 180 degrees (take motor off car again to do this)
The redundant S1 wiring can be used in your link up - your choice what you use.
My advice is to loosely fit the battery terminal so it can be whipped off if smoke starts to rise !
