I’m getting to the end of the mechanical stuff on my 1966 4.2 but am struggling fitting the outboard UJ dust covers. I bought an original second hand one which clears the rear hub upright (just) but the repro one from sng for the other side has no chance of clearing. The car is up on my ramp so the suspension is obviously at full droop which won’t help but I’m sure it’s still going to foul badly.
My car has the early rear hub uprights without the reinforcement that came in later around 1967, would it have had these dust shields originally or would it have gone without like the 3.8’s?
Alternatively, are the repro shields just rubbish?!
Thanks
Jeremy
When we’re half shaft UJ dust shields introduced?

In answer to my own question it looks like the later uprights had more clearance to allow space for the dust covers, does anyone have a car with these early uprights AND dust covers?

Hi Jeremy...have you searched through the parts catalogues or service bulletins in the knowledge base...should give you info on when they were introduced.....Steve

Even my original ones foul when being pushed into place with the suspension unloaded. They clear when inside the hub carrier.

Thanks both, bulletin says they were introduced in 1964 so the repro must just be poor. Time to get the grinder out.
