#1 Repro Marston radiator

Post by peters3103 » Mon Jun 18, 2018 10:20 am

Hi all,

I’m about to take the plunge and order a replacement radiator for my 3.8
Im looking at the Coolcat at AUD$1574
Radtec at $1700 and Fosseway at $2245.
All inclusive of painting and shipping to Australia. I don’t have the luxury of looking at any in the flesh, so to speak, so advice sought.
I guess the fact that Jaguar used the Fosseway for the “new” Lightweights indicates a very good product but is is significant for the extra money?
I plan on retaining my kenlowe fan as the car is used in temps upto 35+ deg C. This is currently mounted directly to the core but I’ll fabricate some brackets for mounting with the new rad.

Cheers,
Pete

I have recently fitted the Fosseway radiator, fan (including solid state otter switch) and fan shroud and am extremely pleased by both their appearance (the radiator is extremely well made) and, more importantly, their performance.

I have the Radtec which works well. However having looked at the Fosseway it is a more accurate copy of the Marston. Functionally they are the same just that the detail on the Fosseway is better. Coolcat sell a Marston name tag to complete the assembly.

I run a Coolcat and am very pleased with it so far. It also uses a modern thermostat switch instead of the original Otter switch. Outside temperatures can get up to 40 degrees on hot days and running up and down mountains it has coped very well. I also run the coolcat fans now and find the temperature needle stays very steady.

Thanks gents, I guess for the extra 700 bucks I may as well go for The Fosseway. Probably never need to replace it again in my lifetime.

+1 for the fossway fan assembly , it's a bonded one piece shroud and Spal fan unit , looks correct too .
They can supply also a modern fan switch made to replace the otter switch .
