#1 Belt length/ pulleys sizes on a late 3.8?

Post by PhilBell » Mon Jul 16, 2018 10:35 am

Would someone with a late 3.8 (engine number 5250-on) with the double-V dynamo/water pump belt be prepared to measure the outer circumference of your belt and also measure the outer diameters of your crank, water pump and dynamo pulleys please?
I've fitted double-V pulleys as part of a race crankshaft damper upgrade and none of the belts I've tried from the usuall suppliers will fit (late E3.8 SBS1010 is too short, Mk2 3.4/3.8 SBS1050 is too long and E4.2 SBS1100 is way too long).

Problem solved.

Sourced a belt that was labelled SBS1010 (ie the one I thought I needed all along - late 3.8 to match the twin-groove pulleys that I fitted) and actually had the correct 1010mm outer circumference. Fitted perfectly, works perfectly.
