I havent a clue why that link doesn't work so I have removed it.

The video is still there. It is of me terrorizing a bunch of Sunday drivers on the way back from Bridgenorth by overtaking them.

Which reminds me, had a bit of pinking on the way back from Germany, so I stopped in at Emerald for them the check the map.

John jumped in the car and we were soon down the road with his laptop plugged in. I replicated the problem, light throttle openings at around 2,000 rpm, so he retarded the ignition around this point and it went away. FOC.

Whilst I was at Emerald a very smart black/red S1 roadster was on the rolling road.

I took a picture of the inlet. A Mangoletsi "injector in manifold" setup on 45mm throttle bodies with a K6 ECU. Very nice. Not sure who it belongs to though.

I also got rid of the two fuel pumps and buried mine in the tank with the return fuel going back into the tank.

So far.... soooo good soooo nice.

Really loving the Emerald/Mangoletsi kit.

All looks similar to mine.

You haven't put the HP Pump in a swirl pot? Or does it pick up fuel from inside the sump? Or dont you think it needs a swirl pot?

Don't forget that the new pump may draw more current than the old SU. Combined with the extra power the Emerald ecu requires a relay switched power supply from the ignition switch.

Otherwise you will run the risk of evaporating your ignition switch.

Just like I did at the moment the barrier went up for me to get onto the Channel Tunnel.

All seems fine now though.

No LP SU pump, no external HP pump, no swirl pot, just use one internal(in tank) high pressure pump.

Used the wiring and relay supplied by emerald for the HP pump. The HP Pump is in the tank its very small see above. The fuel pump is 255 racetronix’s pump. I also changed all the HP lines to black Vibrant performance braided race lines and fittings.

Here's the cold start, before I changed the fuel pump delivery system

@69E4.2FI and @politeperson
I know this is an old thread but I have a few Qs as I'm about to do a similar conversion.

Did you need to retain a swirl pot in the system?
I presume you eliminated the original filter setup?
Do you have any photos on how you routed the return plumbing?

Thanks

Ian

Hello Ian,

I can try and get pictures of the return line.

It basically runs from the engine fuel regulator along with the main feed using the original route and P-clips.
It then goes over the IRS through a grommet or bulkhead union to the boot the into the tank through an additional hole in the fuel feed plate on top of the tank.

Modern submersible fuel pumps are often contained within a little "plastic bucket" so a swirl pot is not necessary. They are often also suspended from the top of the tank, sometimes on rods and springs. As long as it provides around 50 psi, any of them will do. The last one I used was for a Ford Galaxy. It was pretty easy to adapt it to fit the fuel feed plate that bolts into the top of the tank.

Forget the original fuel filter, the increase in fuel pressure would give it all sorts of problems.

What is better is a large aluminium can type filter, mounted somewhere near the original fuel pump position.
