#1 SNG Barratt
Having long been a interested reader of this Forum in a slightly undercover way and having had some discussions with the administrators recently, I have decided to join you all in a more overt way.
My Jaguar history and, more specifically, my E-type history goes way back and my childhood was one spent with E-types all over the garden and my mother clearing parts from the kitchen table to serve our meals. I have worked in almost every department of SNG Barratt, from sales and purchasing to warehouse and manufacturing/assembly. As a schoolboy i would be drafted in for many a long day of "waxoyling" of manifolds and i have developed from there.
E-type wise, i currently have a 1965 4.2 roadster "50EE" and a 1974 V12 2+2 into which i occasionally shoe-horn my young family. Both are regularly and enthusiastically driven!
In terms of joining the forum, i am well aware that my presence could be seen as something of a "fox in the hen house" and if i am faced with vehement opposition - i will be disappointed but will bail out.
What i am hoping my presence on the forum will achieve is the opportunity for me to listen to what Forum members have to say and take on board their views and ideas. I will not be advertising products but i may, from time to time, give updates on new products and news from the parts scene in general with the benefit of my insight. I am not here to replace any of the services of SNG Barratt - if you need some parts, contact our sales team and if you have a problem then i would ask that you contact our customer service team at whichever branch you deal with.
Finally, i would add that i cant mend your car - I'm not a mechanic - and i hope that i can bring to the forum some inside knowledge as well as the opportunity, above all, to listen to you all.
Many thanks for (hopefully) welcoming me!

Welcome Julian!
Good to have you here and your knowledge of parts and experience with E-Types will no doubt be of great benefit to all.
Julian and I have been in discussion of how best he can engage with members and being in the open with honest intent seemed to be the best way. Please read Julian's introduction carefully as he sets out his boundaries. If you have questions or complaints about SNGB parts then your first port of call is direct to their service desk. If you have suggestions how a particular part can be improved or what part should be introduced then that becomes a discussion we can all participate in and hopefully benefit from.

Most welcome Julian.
A closer encounter with the crowd, framed as above stated, will surely be beneficial for all of us on board.
How about posting some pics of your cars?

Julian, welcome to the forum and thank you for your willingness to put your head above the parapet. Unfortunately most of us, me included, are too willing to remember the bad experiences and not all the good ones. The good ones are much greater than the bad ones and I'm very grateful for the help I get and the supply of parts.
How would you like to hear of the bad ones for constructive comments to allow you to remedy them? PM would seem the best idea and if you get recurrent items you might then throw them open for general comments/abuse
Thanks for being there to supply and on here to make your name known
Geoff

Welcome Julian,
Recently whenever I pass through Bridgnorth I have to call in and buy something, always an enjoyable experience. I’m a relatively recent e type owner but my desire to own an e type and interest in them goes back many years. I recall visiting what I think was your business in Trysull maybe 25 plus years ago. There was a row of e types in varying states of condition ( I assume imports but not sure) and thinking one day I will have one.
I’m sure your knowledge and insight will be very welcome to this forum.
Nick

Depends on how many of the parts he sells were fitted to it.........PeterCrespin wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 4:08 amQ: Would you buy a used car from this man?

Only kidding Julian, welcome to the forum. Having dealt personally with Julian on quality control issues I know how keen he is to personally improve things where possible. Given the huge range of items they sell this must be a daunting task.
It must be also very difficult to strike a balance between cost and quality when 99% of buyers make a decision based purely on price.
Keep up the good work and as regards "views and ideas", it would be nice to see 50% discount to the first 20 people that welcomed you, by way of a post, to the forum.

I think you've scored Simon! Julian said his defamation lawsuit will only be for 50 grand instead of 100. Result!
