#1 Advice on 2+2 rear wheelarch inner panel

Post by H7OB » Wed Oct 31, 2018 4:22 pm

Could anyone point me in the direction of an image and / or a source for the component that creates the armrest area that runs off the wheelarch in the second row of a 2+2? My interior was not original and had what appeared to be a hand made sheet steel part at one side and a similar one in aluminium riveted to the front surface of the rear wheelarches at the other. These had foam glued on, beneath the trim. Neither of which looked original. I will also be looking to create a seatbelt run within this for my newly added inertia reels. I’m struggling to find anything that shows the break up in this area. Any help much appreciated!

Hi Paul...what you describe sound about right...a home made looking metal panel covered in foam as mine here
Image and here completed .. note that i have split the wheelarch trim the join is where the rear seat fits so is hidden quite well its not easy making a neat job of the seatbelt entry/exit...if you need any help pm me... Steve

Steve, youre a hero, thats exactly what I was looking for. Im now glad I didnt throw anything out, as home-made as it looked! Youve also done exactly as I plan to on the seatbelt. Could I ask where you got the bezels from? Ive bought a pair of black plastic parts but chrome would look better. I imagine that whole area will be a fun job, particularly when that contact adhesive takes hold!

Hi Paul...i assume you mean the chrome part where the belt comes through....its called an escutcheon....so search for that..mine were from CMC they are about £40 each........you get the top chrome part and a bottom unchromed plate to fit under........you will have to alter the top of the metal panel to make it a bit wider to fit..Steve
