Hi John - I think you'll find your problem is not the brand, but the profile. You must get tge 80, not the 70 - not tall enough.Herzeg wrote:
Following this thread I checked the car yesterday and lo and behold they are 205/70 Vreds. I have never been totally happy with cornering in it and wonder now if this is the tyres as the suspension was all rebuilt last winter?

205/70 are very close to the size of original profile 185 tyres, but wider. It is the wider size that can give some people, myself included, the feel of heavier steering. 205/70 are standard fit on the S3 with power steering.

The steering is incredibly heavy for parking and it was my plan to change them back to 185's when I need to change them. Sadly too many other jobs still to do so will have to put up with them fro a while yet

I'm having the same problem in South Africa ( no Dunlop or Michelin and Vredensteins hard to come by). Just been offered Hankooks ( 'T' speed rating 118mph- which is fine for me). Dougal - Any thoughts?
Also been offered Federals SS657's ( not sure of the ratio) - does anyone know anything about these as battling to get good info on web.

My Hankooks have given me great service so far, including at 100 mph. Would still love a set of Michelins or Cinturatos. If I cannot get them, will fit Vredensteins.
By the way, tried to reply to a PM from John, but it is stuck in my outbox.
