#1 Borescopes & Happy Christmas to you all
I have advocated the use of these many times, but have not had one myself ! Please can anyone recommend what I should get, and from where ? I want one small enough to go in cylinders through spark plug holes
I wish everyone on this forum a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas

Happy Christmas to you too!
I haven't bought one of these myself, but was thinking about one for things planned next yearn so looked into it a bit. I quite liked the look of this one because it looks small enough (apparently goes through a 10mm drilled hole) , has HD images and isn't stupidly expensive. Money is saved because rather than an attached screen, or monitor, you wi-fi the images to your smartphone. Gets quite a good write up.

Just google what your looking for...dozens available on line from China. Very cheap, work great. less then $10.00 here in USA. I use as you have suggested, looking into cylinders , etc. You can change intensity of light, focus, etc, and plugs into your cell phone, which takes about 2 minutes to download the app. Great little device.

Hi
I bought one on eBay a few years ago. It plugs into a USB socket, is 7mm diameter and has its own light source, which can be varied to suit. Total length is 2 metres so you can run it up a sill or similar but it can be tricky to control due to its flexibility.
Managed to retrieve a wiper box spacer that fell into the bulkhead thanks to this little toy.
Cost about £7 if I remember correctly.
Regards

I have a couple of USB cabled ones (one with a 6m cable, the other 2m).
I recently tried one which comes with a rechargeable WiFi transmitter, and you use an app for the phone to display the image. I like the idea, but the app isn't very good, and I'd rather be able to display it on a (larger) laptop screen. I didn't spend much time messing with it.
I use them fairly often, great to have a look inside a fuel tank to see if a sender is sunk, rubbing etc...

Weird - it appears on my screen when I look at my post!christopher storey wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 6:43 pmMalcolm : for some reason, your links are failing to appear
It comes up as a picture you can click on. Go to Amazon, and put in Depstech borescope, then look at the £29.99 option for Depstech. They do a £39 option that works on tablets, so may connect to a laptop?

Please let us know what you opt for, Christopher, as there must be many of us tempted by these ...... when one thinks that only 5 years ago I spent upwards of 200 quid, albeit with its own screen, to look for a leak in a model steam locomotive.
I wonder if there's anything available that is also able to look for small items flying over Gatwick ?

I’ve just bought this one too, to examine the inside of the cills etc. Testing it looks like it works well and It can take photos etc, so in the New Year I’ll use it and if anyone’s interested I can post some.
Cheers,
Rich

I'd be interested to hear feedback! Then I can NOT buy it if it's rubbish!
Seriously, a few pics posted would be good.
