#1 E Types banned in cities.

Post by malcolm » Wed Jan 30, 2019 9:52 am

Spain has introduced new laws, and we can no longer drive an E Type in the centre of Madrid
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-46403397

France already has rules for Paris, but classic cars (more than 30 years old) are allowed.
So will Madrid follow that lead?

More to the point, will we find increasing numbers of places where we can't take our cars?

In a world increasingly aware of the damage that burning fossil fuels can do, driving for fun when there are multiple other opportunities to travel using subsidised public transport, could be considered anti-social.

Just saying.......

E-Types are more fun on the open road, far away from cities, anyway.

Agree they're more fun on the open road, but sometimes on a tour you want to visit a city! I'm doing the Spanish Pyrenees in September for 14 days; great driving roads with fabulous scenery, but during the tour we will be visiting Zaragoza (great city, 2000 years of history), and Pamplona. OK this year (hopefully!) but thereafter?

"..so lets all stop driving for fun."

If the tree hugging nazis get their way that will happen. We'll have to become outlaws.
I'm up for that!
