Anyone started to use their e-types yet?
#1 Anyone started to use their e-types yet?
I got my e-type out this weekend just to check on it, levels etc. Waiting now for the first opportunity of ok weather. The salt seems to have been washed away now by the rain. Trying to decide where to take it this year.

Hi ! Proud to say I have driven my E-Type Series 3 in New York City for over 45 years (original owner), at least 2 or 3 times a week. Every week ! Does not see snow anymore (used too ! ), but on a dry day, hot or cold, I take it out. Letting such a beautiful car sit, un-driven , to me makes no sense. Built like a tank, and my favorite car to drive, and I have driven them all. Taker her for a spin !!!

Well done John!
As it is supposed to be the warmest February on record here this week I think the OTS will have to come out. Rain has washed the salt way so why not.

Yes indeed. She fired straight up and off we went. Used her to see clients on Friday, then used her all Saturday and Sunday. She is driving very well indeed, still got dead bugs from the Nurburgring on her.
Might take her to London on Thursday morning.

Went to B&Q the other day to buy some putty, so that was exciting:
Then to St Pancreas to collect my daughter from Eurostar (using the tube would have been the rational choice I can tell you - traffic on the Euston Road is ghastly - but the car was the star attraction at the pub while I waited for her...

I drive mine all winter as long as the roads are dry and don't have Jaguar repellant spread on them. Drove it to church yesterday and then on a 45 minute drive on the local back roads. Silly grin still plastered on my face.

Funnily enough I also had a good weekend on that front! I got a few hours on Saturday putting my old Norton together. On Sunday I popped my newly chromed spinners back on and dropped her back onto her wheels. I couldn’t resist pressing the button and she fired up beautifully so it only seemed fair to take her out for a spin for 15 mins. An hour later I rolled back in, grinning like a teenager! Still minus most of the interior but single seaters are no less fun!

Pleased to say we were out both on Thursday and Sunday, car starting well after so long standing in the cold and damp garage. Great to be out and about

Rack is off the car, waiting for a bush, radiator is out, suspected leak, waiting to be tested. Can’t really start the engine let alone drive it anywhere....
And it is the car’s 52nd birthday tomorrow.

Took her out for an hours shakedown on Saturday past sunny Margate beach followed by an 'enthusiastic' run on the dual carriageway alongside Manston runway !

Had mine out the previous w/e and again on Thursday. Took it to Oundle to get the tracking checked as it had been scrubbing front tyres. Needed to know if/or not my crude setting had corrected it enough. Got it right and at same time the steering wheel got centre'd properly. Going nicely
Was going to take it to meet my sister and hubby for lunch today but as I returned home from walking the mutt this morning, the road was holding water and I could see fine grit in the surface roughness. So we took the other car Roads on the way were dry but white in places.

Took mine out yesterday toget something from B&Q . When I got there I'd forgotten what I came for. It didn't really matter I suppose, so I drove back again..

Last WeekEnd , under pretence of repair something in the holidays house in the isle of RE ..... I had a nice tour around. But when i came back and put some fuel in the tank..... There was a bad smell in the cockpit: 3 leaks on the top of the tank so now i wait until i'll fix the issues...

Had our 3.8 out last weekend - hood down. Real pleasure to drive with the overhauled IRS. Looking forward to this weekend too given the weather forecast!

It's snowing hard right now (8 AM) with 2-4 inches accumulation predicted before it turns to freezing rain this afternoon. Jaguar repellant applied to all the local roads, so my E will be off of the roads for the foreseeable future.

Planning on getting the old girl out tomorrow for her first run of 2019. Pumped tyres, checked oil and coolant today, so looking forward to getting her started.

Well I did it. I am now the most boring film director in the world and hear is the proof. This was my day at the office, well, looking at sites. Apologies for putting my foot down in the Hatfield tunnel like a child, it always has to be done
These are the highlights from Boston (9.15am) to Mill Hill (11.30am) , Buntingford (1.00pm) then Chatteris. Back at 4.30pm. .
David said it would be warm today to I took the E. He was right. It cleared up and was sunny all afternoon.
I took a picture of the Jag in the car park of the Sword in Hand, Westmill near Buntingford where I had lunch. Our old stomping ground, my grandfather owned a huge old house in the middle called Cheriton House, now converted into 4 or 5 houses.
Westmill is where I first ever saw an E type as a 5 year old. Up the road from the pub in David Balfers barn, A primrose Series 1 FHC that he had driven into a tree. It was in a poor state with a very bent, open bonnet, who knows what happened to it after I saw it in 1974. Here is the car in the pub car park today.
The car went like a rocket as usual. Just to prove you can use an old car like a new car if you want.
245 miles, 9.5 gallons of unleaded, no oil consumption, no issues. Sorry to be so boring. Nothing to fiddle with, nothing has gone wrong for quite a while now.
If it aint broke dont fix it. Here she is back in Lincolnshire this evening.
What a great day.
