I have to admit I did not stop using it (thanks to no longer existing real winters in our region). I had to take the hardtop off already because it was getting too warm on sunny afternoons- crazy.

Nice to see everyone's cars out again, Richard got the FHC out the other day - I'd been at home for a few days and sod's law it was the day I was leaving for Bristol!

Took the V12 out this afternoon. A good excuse to get my wheels balanced. The Turrino adapter kit helps your local tyre place balance wire wheels.....the fog is a bit thick first thing in the south at the moment, but later in the day the roads have dried out!

Ok, the sun is shining here in Kent, and as we have heard I hope the majority of the salt has gone now. So, maybe its an e type sort of a day. Banned from the house as eldest daughter is revising for professional exams so cars it is!

Just been out for a 40 mile drive. It was perfect. Although at the end the clutch started slipping a bit ... humph! I passed a series 3 red rag top with occupants waving away

I bottled it! Took the motorbike out first and there is still a lot of white dustiness ( salt ) on the roads so felt we need a another rain to clear all that away. Its still only February after all! aren't we lucky?

My daughter is home for half-term and the weather was brilliant today, so we went for a drive down from London to Farnham to visit the houses where I was born and grew up....came back via Tilford and Godalming. Absolutely glorious! How I love driving that car....
Also tested the heater valve Angus - pleased to report that it provides fine gradations of hot air to the cabin from cool (outside ambient) to hot and all temperatures in between
I am continuing to get micro-second hesitations from the engine when accelerating hard at higher speeds. No problems at lower engine speeds or loads. Angus suggested I first swap out the coil, which I will do. If that doesn't fix it, I will then turn up the pressure slightly on the Filter King as it might be fuel starvation? Then the Pertronix (no-points) ignition becomes the suspect component...If anyone has experienced this particular issue, please let me know what cured it.

It's not likely a fault with the Pertronix; it will either work normally or not at all. I would check ignition timing and advance first. Also, it could be a worn distributor. Doesn't sound like a fuel delivery problem.

Thanks Mark, but the distributor was overhauled by Rob Beere as part of the engine rebuild. Timing/advance -would that be consistent with the fact that nothing else seems amiss, apart from this occasional momentary hesitation under the conditions described?

Slightly weak mixture? Too much air not enough fuel on initial throttle opening perhaps. If you have done work to the ports and air filter have you up jetted the carbs ?

Or possibly a sticking piston in the carbs.....went out in mine today....not far but she seemed ok spent an hour cleaning the cabin....now she smells all lovely inside....how I love cleaning products

Another longer run yesterday. The odometer turned over 88888 miles from new assuming the speedo is original.
Drove down to Audley End House but the house was not open. Nice gardens, interesting kitchen and super weather. Went on to visit Hilary's brother living near Saffron Walden so was not an unproductive trip though mostly motorway/dual carriageway

Mine went for a run today through bits of the chilterns and via Ivinghoe. Lovely. Saw a healey 100 (I think) in a lay by being admired. Passed a Capri and a 1970 ish Mustang. The old girl went rather well. No alarms or excursions. Several waves and thumbs up...life does not get much better than piloting a e type Then much polishing and cleaning was done!

Got mine out twice with a local run as a shakedown and then a nice run round Sussex and lunch at Goodwood yesterday. Perfect weather. Saw quite a few old cars out and about though no E’s. Parked next to some XK120/140s at Goodwood. They are lovely. If I had space I’d have an XK120 roadster in the garage as well

Got her out on her 51st birthday for the first 150 miles in this year. Brilliant weather but bloody cold in the morning. It's amazing: even after so many years I'm surprised every year again, when I take her out for the first time, how much fun it is to drive her.
