Thanks Steve it does but what would realy help is knowing what the distance between centres on inlet and outlet pipes on the car should be and then I would know if the car had been modded or the pipe stubs on the new silencers are incorrect.

Hi Bernie.....the width between the front pipes can be altered..the rear is more or less determined by the width of the i/p of the rear box......not going to be easy to find someone with an original system still installed.....Steve

That's very interesting thanks Steve - it didn't occur to me to try and change the centres of the front pipes is it straightforward?

Hi Bernie.....there is no real adjustment but with exhausts in general it can be easier to fit parts by loosing everything else off starting at the connection to the manifold....so that everything can move.....then fit the new parts....get in best position and tighten.....it might work for you unless you have a serious mismatch/manufacturer error......all the best...Steve

My mechanic had to fit an adaptor so the ends would meet up with existing exhaust
