#1 Drive belt part numbers

Post by mach2andy » Sat May 04, 2019 9:21 am

I've just looked at a major suppliers catalogue for some new drive belts, and they seem to me to be overly expensive. I'd like to fit them before the engine goes back into the car. Can anybody help with some generic part numbers or widths and exact lengths. I know you can measure them with a piece of rope, but I'd rather source the exact items. My car does not have a/c or P/S and has 2 belts one for the alternator which is the standard Lucas 60amp unit, and one for the water pump. One is I think 10mm wide and the other 13mm wide.
Thanks in anticipation.

Not sure if this will help or not, as when mine was being rebuilt we had difficulty finding the right length belt for the alternator (or more likely the water pump - A.D. don't you know  ), and I have a non-standard alternator. However belts were:

Water pump: 13A0790C
Alternator: 10A0813C

10 and 13 are the belt widths.
790 and 813 are the belt lengths (mm)
I think C is the section.

These are Dayco belts. They seem to be available in 10mm varying lengths.

Hi Jerry
On the web, I've managed to cross reference the Dayco part numbers that correspond to the Jaguar numbers as Alternator 10A0825C and W/P 13A0775C.
So your numbers confirm those to be about right. Your W/P belt length of 790 is 15mm longer than standard, and someone else has an 800 length belt fitted which seems to add up as people say that the standard length belt is difficult to fit.
Thanks for taking the trouble to look.

Yes, the "proper" size w/p belt would not go on :?:

Hi Ash
I'll get back to you next week once both belts are fitted. I only have the alternator belt fitted at the moment.

Hi Ash
These are the belts that I ended up with. I got the alt belt right first time, but had to try 3 different sizes of W/P belt before I got it right! I had to shim the alternator slightly forward to get it's pulley properly lined up with the W/P pulley.

That’s great Andy - will get those ordered today.

Absolutely perfect timing as ready to put alternator, etc back on very soon.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. As always, greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Ash

Andy

Just a follow up note - belts arrived and both fitted a treat. Plus a spare of each in the boot.

Thanks for advice.

cheers
