HELP

Hi, I have just bought a series 3 V12 E Type.

I need to replace a small piece of rubber hose about 3-5 inches long that can be seen under the car on the passenger N/S. It looks as though it runs from the gearbox to an intercooler. (It's an Auto Box). the rubber hose connects two metal pipes and I believe carries ATF fluid.

I cannot find it in the parts and service manuals. SNG Barratt sent me the wrong hose, they sent me one that was about 2ft long ! The diameter is wrong as well otherwise I would have just cut it to size.

Plus, does anyone have the proper lay out of how the reversing lights are fitted and located on a UK Series 3 August 1973 model. Most pictures of E Types that I have seen don't show the location of the reversing lights.

The gearbox cooler pipes go to the bottom of the
radiator and are a little bit 'Heath Robinson'. Your best
bet is to take your sample (of pipe) and visit Your local
hydraulic hose maker. Although it does not contain high
pressure it has to be oil etc resistant. The original part
No is c25971/6 for the short pipe and 25971/7 for the
long pipe.

I personally would fit a seperate cooler and have both
pipes remade in an up to date stainless line with a plastic
liner. Then its one less thing to do later!

The reversing lights fit in a square metal bracket and screw
in to the four holes either side of the No plate lamp.

The wires for the reverse lamps should come through the
other two larger holes.

I understand that there is a possibility that the pipe I am referring to is in fact a vacuum pipe. The two longer hoses that you are referring to are too long. This pipe is only 3-5 inches in length.

With regards to the reverse lights. Someone, has over its previous ownerships, fitted different lights and holders. I am trying to find a diagram or picture of how they should look so that I can get the correct lights and have them fitted in the right place when the car is re-painted.

Does the pipe in question go to the inlet manifold if so
the pipe is c38512/3 ( great having a parts book!).
Any good vac pipe will do.

Hutsons at Bradford (01274/669052) have both. I had
some brackets made out of stainless rather than use
the original steel ones.

Dave, I have taken a few photos of the pipe but can't put them on this site as I don't have a photobucket account. But I think that you could be right about the part number. It sort of looks right! I don't have a parts book but I do have the CD version.
