Please see the attached picture. My mechanic has the crankcase breather connected directly to one air filter. I have also attached another picture of a V12 (bottom picture) with what i believe is the original factory way, where you can see the breather go into the four carbs. Mine goes just into one air filter. One of the changes made to my car, is that the emission pipes, and crankcase breather pipes were removed, I am trying to understand what effect connecting the breather to one air filter (my car) versus the factory way of connecting to the carbs will effect the performance of my car. What will i see?? Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated,

Hi Steve
Sorry about that.....The issue was a bad AC compressor.

Hi Sandy,
By connecting the breather that way it is upstream of the throttle butterflies and so will not be seeing the manifold vacuum. It certainly will not work as intended and might make the engine more prone to leak oil from e.g. the crankshaft seal. If the engine is in poor shape oil mist may also foul the air filter and so cause the mixture to run rich. The engine can run well with the other emission equipment removed but its probably better to get the breather put back as Jaguar intended.
Cheers,

Ok thanks Adrian. I hope i can find original crankcase vent hardware. In the meantime am i better of disconnecting from the air filter, and just connect it to a separate standalone K&N vent filter? Sandy

That is so wrong - that will just clog the paper air filter with oil - if your mechanic did that to my car I would be getting a new mechanic because his knowledge is poor.
