#1 New member in Gloucestershire

Post by ockendons » Sat Oct 12, 2019 10:07 pm

Hi folks,

Just acquired a s2 1969 import from the US, so am pretty excited to soon be driving this beautiful classic.

Currently it is going through a mechanical health check, before I then turn my attention to the body/paint work and the interior.

I think I might have a good bodywork guy, but have no idea who to turn to for the interior. Existing interior is an interesting brown velour(!), so am probably looking to get a complete overhaul.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Hi & welcome,
Get some pics up of you new pride & joy - even the brown velour, for comedy value if nothing else!

I can recommend Aldridge for trim - but there are a few others that other members have used who are also excellent. Do a search on here and you’ll get a flavour.

Have fun!

Hi, welcome from another Gloucestershire owner. I haven't used either of them but "locally" John Skinner near Cheltenham makes DIY interior kits. https://www.john-skinner.co.uk/ and Cotswold Classic Car Restorations near Cirencester might be worth talking to http://www.cotswoldclassiccarrestoratio ... /services/

Hi, I'm not too far away from you in Tewkesbury.

I also imported an E from the USA, nearly 3 years ago now and I am probably in the last 6 months of finishing the restoration, (this may slip!!!). Happy to get together and compare notes if that helps you find resources and suppliers etc.

I used Tony Williams bodyshop in Malvern for my respray. I did all the prep myself but the topcoat is too important for a DIY. They also painted my Healey and I am delighted with both.

My E Type trim was done at Aldridgeand they did a super job. I had the seats and the centre consol fitted there and the rest came in kit for to do myself. They were very helpful. I bought a kit off Skinners in Cheltenham for the Healey and it also was very good, I would certainly recommend both but Skinners only do kits and no fitting.

As others have said, make sure you add your name and car details to the footer, just the model and year, so others can help you if you ask questions in future.

Hopefully like me, you will find this forum a fantastic place for advice and help.

Do get in touch if I can help you.

Regards

Steve

Hi Steve. I tried to send you a pm but not sure if it worked..? I'm in Highnam with a 1970 FHC which I'm about to start restoring and was wondering about meeting up so I could pick your brains about local contacts etc. !!! So if you fancy a trip down the 38 for coffee etc or if you would allow me to come and see your lovely project that would be really great.
