#1 Door top chrome finisher question

Post by splosh » Sat Nov 09, 2019 5:01 pm

Hi all,
Noticed that a particular very early E Type had the door top chrome finisher without the crease line.
Is this correct for this early car? As I thought the early cars should have the finisher with the crease line ?

Can anyone clarify please?

The very early cars had not only different door chromes but the chrome under the screen is deeper and the uprights different too, with a capping where the soft top clips on. I am sure that someone will correct me, but I believe that this applies only to the outside lock cars, the first 500 E-types made, of which four were RHD coupés and 91 roadsters. However, I am afraid to say that 77RW would not be a good example for a concours entry, since it was restored I believe in 1992 and it isn't as good as one would like.
