#1 Whom to contact for a pair of e-type S1 3.8 hub carriers C20811?

A quick question - whom to contact for a set of e-type S1 3.8 hub carriers C20811?

The ones I have have all the bearing races for the fulcrum shaft cracked :-(

Tadek : when you say bearing races cracked, are you talking about the roller cages themselves, or do you mean the aluminium housing into which they fit ? The roller cages are relatively easy to replace with new ones

Hi Tadek...i see you have also posted in the wanted section....if its holding up your build you could use any of the aluminium hub carriers....they all use the same size bearings....xj6 S1-3 is a good source and around £50 each...Steve

Thanks, but they all seem to have different part numbers - are there any major/important differences?

What about the geometry (fulcrum pin to hub bearing distance) ??

Hi Tadek...yes they all have different part numbers and have dlightly different moulding shapes....but as far as im aware the geometry is the same....obviously E type ones will be much harder to find second hand....you can buy new castings.......I had two both with cracks....and replaced them from an XJ6..all bearings etc same as E type..my reasearch pointed to them functioning the same but looking slightly different......dont go for later xj6 as they have a fitting for ABS sensor.......best to do your own reaserch starting here then make up your own mind.....Steve

Chris,

Pardon my confusion - It's the aluminum housing that's cracked, unfortunately..

Hi Tadek...just for info.....its not uncommon for these carriers to have cracks.....when you get these second hand they are covered in dirt/grease etc and still have the old bearings in...the first pair i purchased after cleaning and removeing the old races were found to have cracks.....fortunatly i got them from a well known used Jag parts supplier who sent me more.......i found that once cleaned up it you brush petrol over them it will highlight cracks they can be anywhere like this one

Yes, I have also dealt with John Gordon and would be quite happy. There is also a scrapyard in Rhollanerchrugog, North Wales who do a lot of XJ6 scrapping . The name is Dave Kelly and here is the website
