...a friend of mine asked me to look out for an IRS or parts which he needs for a customer who bought an incomplete S2 car. He already has a Diff plus brakes from an XJ6, but nothing more.
Iirc the S1 and S2 IRS are the smallest of them all, so from memory nothing would fit- only the S3 axle is wider and thus swappable with other Jags from that era, right ?
What are his options, then- buy the cage plus driveshafts plus lower wishbones new, and puzzle it alltogether with what he has and can get from XJ6s ?

Hi Carsten...note that the mount brackets on an E type diff are different to an xj6 diff...they positon the diff at a different angle.....driveshafts and wishbones can be cut down in length....Im currently building a C type replica based XJ6 rear....almost all of these Kit cars that use xj6 rear ends cut down at the rear.......hubs and carriers are all compatable with E type bearings but the Aliminium carriers can be slightly different mouldings.....now you just have the cage to deal with......becaus the diff brackets are different the mount holes in the cage for the long fulcrum shaft are also different.....you would need an E type and Xj6 cage next to each other to see if it could be altered....Steve

I think that's what he'll need to do.

Check out an s-type or 420g, but it may have the wrong diff ratio supplied.
All of the others will have a different track, so mixing and matching will put the camber all over the place.
kind regards
Marek
